How to track sales for items that haven't or weren't inventoried in Rose, or don't ring up at checkout.
For items that were not created in Rose, you can still track the sale of those items with Rose. There are two ways to do this.
Method #1 - (Easiest) - Create a variably priced item in Rose for each consignor/vendor. To do this, change the "Pricing Type" to Variable. You still need to put a price in the price field for it to successfully save and send to Square. You can just use $1.00 for example. Check the box "NEVER DELETES" in Rose too before saving. When scanned or selected on Square, it will ask for a price at checkout (not the $1.00 you put in)
Method #2 - This method requires setting up reusable items on the POS (essentially one for each category) If you already have numeric account numbers, you can send them in a spreadsheet to Consignor Connect so we can import those account numbers and names for you. Once these are imported, consignment sales within Square can be tracked.
- Create Categories in Rose that match your top selling items/categories or vendors if that's your preferred method of tracking categories in Square.
- Create a modifier name "SKU" within the Square dashboard. See the video below.
- Create buttons that will allow for variably pricing of items in the point of sale app on the iPad. Go here to see how: https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5404-create-and-manage-items-with-square-point-of-sale. When creating these reusable items be sure to connect them to the category you created in Rose and check the modifier on that you created earlier in step 3.
- Don't setup prices for these items/buttons you are creating as they will be variably priced.
- Now, when you sell an item at the register that isn't barcoded and isn't in Rose, you can track that sale and payout your consignors through Rose.
- Add the consignor account # (contract #) into the Note field at checkout. Leave a space and then enter a short description if desired. Within the Sales Batch, Rose will attach that sale to the consignor # entered and post the sale to their account when you post you sales batches.
